Death Note seasons, featuring Light Yagami, are mysterious, psychological, supernatural thriller. Its original author is Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata. Its TV animation has been directed by Tetsurō Araki and written by Toshiki Inoue. It has been produced in Madhouse Studio after licensed by Madman Entertainment, Viz Media and Manga Entertainment. ABC2, YTV, SCREAM and Cartoon Network (Adult Swim) are the networks which originally aired its episodes. Death Note season 1 was premiered on 3rd October, 2006.
Death Note seasons focus Light Yagami. He is a university student who finds “Death Note”, a supernatural notebook, dropped on Earth by death god, Ryuk. The Death Note is a very powerful book and kills anyone whose name is written on it with the only condition that its writer has seen the face of that person. Yagami uses this book to finish evil minded persons in the world and dreams to become ‘God of the Next World’.
Large number of mysterious deaths provokes International Police Organization and detective L to start investigation to find out the real culprit. Soon L finds out, whosoever he is, can kill people from distance. Light gives up his and Misa Amane’s Death Note to save her after which he looses all of his memories regarding Death Note and turns himself to L for inspection. They together find out people using his Death Note and arrest them. While recovering the book from them, Light’s memory comes back as soon as he touches it.
Continuing his plan, he compels Shinigami Rem, the former owner of Misa’s Death Note, to kill L and his supporter Watari. After their death, Japanese Task Force makes Light as “new L”. One of L’s successors, Mello, kidnaps Light’s little sister Sayu Yagami, and demands Death Note. The Japanese Task Force saves Sayu but loses the Death Note. They recover it from him again at the cost of Light’s father’s life. Now, Teru Mikami and Kiyomi Takada start killing criminals. This time Mello kidnaps Kiyomi but gets killed when she writes his name on the book. Light kills her to save himself. In the end, Ryuk, the Death God writes Light’s name on the book and he dies of heart attack.
